My grandpa actually has the first 2002 Thunderbird sold in Virginia. It has a tan interior and I've never seen nor heard of him ever driving it. He had the hardtop and the soft top and he keeps it in his climate controlled garage under a cover. I've only seen it 3 times. I doubt he would trade for a Buick though. He's not a GM guy, or even a ford guy.
